I'm living in China now and seeing the effects. When I went in this week for a prenatal checkup the waiting room was packed with parents taking their kids in for check-ups. Now at least 4 have died and some 50,000 hospitalized. They are saying all dairy products made in China are suspect and could contain melamine. Even Starbucks won't use any milk products anymore except imported soy milk. I was used to having cereal and milk every morning, but now I'm worried about getting enough calcium while I'm pregnant since Chinese dairy isn't safe anymore. They say the chemical melanine was added in order to make it look like there was more protein in the products.
