Former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell, is Pregnant

Did you know that Former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell, was pregnant? I had no idea. But I guess if you live in the UK its probably big news, and most likely Hello Magazine were the first ones publicize it. Well, since I just found this out I feel like discussing about it on my blog, because she is a single mother taking on the challenge of raising a baby on her own. Halliwell revealed that the pregnancy and the experience of an expecting single mother was an emotional journey for her. Being a single mother is always difficult and stressful, knowing that you are bringing a new child into this world by yourself. It is definitely a challenging experience to say the least. She has been preparing for motherhood since the moment that she found out she was pregnant, "the most joyous news anyone can have," and her first instinct was to say, "Thank you God." Ginger Spice, currently 7 months pregnant, said, "It's been a huge hormonal journey, and for the first three months of pregnancy I was very ill. It was like being hungover, with a depth of tiredness I'd never experienced." Boy, don't I know what she went through! She went on to say, "It's a hideous stage when you don't look pregnant, but just as if you've eaten too many pies." Though the pregnancy was not planned, "There was not a moment's doubt whether this child was wanted. The joy and gratitude I felt were instant," quoted by Hello Magazine. The baby is a happy accident and I am going alone by choice. I would never deprive my child of the right to know its father. I think a child can still receive the love of two great parents who are not necessarily together. We don't have to live together to be supportive." Geri has not mentioned the name of the father's baby, but she has revealed that she will name her baby Stella if it is a girl or Leonardo if it is a boy. I would like to CONGRATULATE Ginger Spice on her first baby! I wish her the best!

“Having a baby changes everything” ~Johnson and Johnson~ Friendlies, What is it that Johnson Co. means to communicate with that little catch phrase? I didn’t think much about it before I was pregnant… but now… why would they want to discourage people from having babies? Most people I know disdain change… resist, avoid, and cringe at the mere thought of it… it is rarely a positive reaction… So here I am in the midst of my change and the nausea can drop me to my seat. It is an almost constant reminder that this baby is changing everything… moment by moment. The fatigue, the constipation, the wide awake at 0400 syndrome… I imagine to some that this little marketing phrase could be powerfully pro-choice and not pro-life. There have been several stories come my way lately of the first reactions of some to the news of a pregnancy… Negative reactions… potent thoughts of how inconvenient and problematic and ‘how I’ll have to put my life on hold now…’ I am blown away by those who feel this way… Since when did life become solely about them and their ‘needs’…? Yes, I am nausea-dominated and inconvenienced and a slacker in so many parts of my life. Routines are changed, my house is a disaster, and I’m not very helpful at work or at home… I spend a lot of time just breathing… Yet, when I am not feeling poorly, I wonder if everything is okay… is ‘she’ going to stay… and I find the nausea to be a comfort, even a blessing. The inconvenience, a reminder of the compassion of those around me who have decided that my condition is a natural part of their business… I am daily reminded that babies to be are just not placed in the same categories as people of any other age… they are special, wondrous, welcomed, cherished, boundary-free… they defy the space-time continuums… they establish and support God’s opinion that the world should go on and therein lies their power: they create hope in a sometimes hopeless world and it is a hope that all shapes and sizes of people so eagerly reach for… and now I have become their beacon…every nauseous and inconvenient part of me. Yes, a baby does change many things… so be cognizant of your every action… but, also, believe that a baby also confirms and supports and encourages hope. Hope in a future that will be changed and improved by just one more possible life changing human… Who will this baby be? Soon enough… as Erma Bombeck once wrote: “Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy and complaining about the shadow over my feet, I’d have cherished every minute of it and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was to be my only chance in life to assist God in a miracle” …To assist God in the miracle of creation. It’s a sobering thought and as usual when I place my gaze on God, my difficulties seem to become less formidable. Nauseously yours but grateful, Anne

Is Britney Spears Pregnant with Number 2?

There are rumours surfacing that pop star Britney Spears is pregnant again with hubby Kevin Federline's second child. Just six months ago she gave birth to her son Sean Preston. Could she have another bun in the oven? She reportedly spilled the beans to friends that she could be pregnant with her second. A source revealed: "Kevin said, 'Britney's pregnant again,' and when I expressed surprise, he said, 'Yeah, it shocked the s*** out of me, too.'" An eyewitness told reporters, "She certainly looks pregnant. And she doesn't seem to be making any effort to disguise the fact. She's wearing clothes that clearly show a large tummy bump." A little too soon don't you think? Especially, when they are rumoured to have problems in their marriage. Could this help save their relationship? I don't think having another baby could help save a relationship, but it might just put things off to the side. Once I heard this story I thought that it just might be too soon for her to be pregnant with another. When is it too soon to have another child? I guess whenever you are not ready. It just doesn't seem that she is ready to have another when this one is still just so young and so is she. Click here to see complete story.

Week 13

I reached week 13 in my pregnancy! Do you know what that means? I am in my second trimester, and yep things are coming along just great. Well, not that great all the time. I am still tired throughout my days, but at least my morning sickness has almost come to a hault. All I need is REST!

I would like to update everyone with the fetal development of my baby at week 13. At this stage in the development the vocal cords begin to form and the face is looking more human, which sounds good to me. :) The eyes are growing closer together, instead of being on the sides of the head, and the ears move into position. And most importantly the sex of the baby can be determined, but unfortunately the ultrasound cannot pick it up until week 16. The intestines begin to move further into the body, the liver begins to secrete bile and the pancreas begins to produce insulin. It sounds like a busy week for my baby! I am so proud!

From what I hear, the second trimester is the easiest time of the pregnancy. And that's fabulous news to me! What I really want to do is celebrate the ending of my first trimester and beginning of my second, because I'm that much closer to seeing my baby.

If you are interested in the fetal development of your baby click here to see a month-to-month overview.
