Irish Names on the Rise

MSN Family/Baby had an article about the rise in Irish names for babies. The boy's name Aidan? A very popular name right now and an Irish name. I have my own theory about that name actually. It can't be proven. But the rise in the name Emma (IMO) is directly related to Friends. I think the same with the name Aidan. It is directly related (again IMO) to Sex in the City. But okay that was a tangent, where were we? Oh right, Irish names. Here are a few the article listed. Ryan, Liam, Ciaran (keer-in), Casey, Evan, Brady, Core, Brendan, Colin, Riley, Conor Siobhan (shiv-awn), Aisling, Tara, Deirdre, Bailey, Maureen, Mackenzie, Kaitly, Eileen Kiddo#1 does have some playmates who are those listed above so it must be true! The article also has the Irish naming conventions: For Boys Oldest son named after the father's father Second son named after the mother's father Third son named after the father Fourth son named after the father's oldest brother For Girls Oldest daughter named after the mother's mother Second daughter named after the father's mother Third daughter named after the mother Fourth daughter named after the mother's oldest sister If my family were to actually follow these conventions, it would be mighty confusing during family reunions.
